terri1020 Posted May 5, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2008 We're traveling on NCL Dawn 6/8. My cousin is sharing a balcony cabin on deck 8 with her ds, 3 years old. She is a bit concerned about the three year old on the balcony. Are there adequate locks on the balcony doors? Suggestions on how you keep your little ones safe in a balcony cabin. Thanks! electricron Posted May 5, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2008 There are child tamper proof latches on the balcony doors.
JessLCH Posted May 5, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 5, 2008 Yes, sailed on the Dawn with balonies twice with toddler/preschooler. Balcony locks are kid proof.
terri1020 Posted May 5, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted May 5, 2008 Thanks! Now she can sleep at night AND look forward to her balcony cabin!
terrymtex01 Posted May 5, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 5, 2008 We have never sailed on the NCL Dawn, but I can tell you on the NCL Star and the NCL Sun the balcony sliding doors were almost adult proof too.. LOL.. They are not the easiest doors to open.. I honestly couldn't imagine a 3 yo being able to open them.
Druke I Posted May 5, 2008 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2008 Many childproof things are (almost) adult-proof also. Look at some of the aspirin bottles and prescription meds!
terrymtex01 Posted May 5, 2008 #7 Share Posted May 5, 2008 Many childproof things are (almost) adult-proof also. Look at some of the aspirin bottles and prescription meds! I actually thought about that before I posted.. LOL.. some of them are easier for kids to open than for us. Really though.. the balcony doors we have had were so heavy I just cant imagine a 3 yo being able to open them. I may be wrong.. but I hope i'm not. :)
Terrafreaky Posted May 5, 2008 #8 Share Posted May 5, 2008 If I remember correctly, on the Pearl, the locks were up really high. Practically eye-level height for me, although I am sorta short. :D
Sailaway Girl Posted May 5, 2008 #9 Share Posted May 5, 2008 High up on the Dawn too and quite hard for a child to open. Need a little muscle at times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
halos Posted May 6, 2008 #10 Share Posted May 6, 2008 I've never heard any reports of young children overboard :o Relax. There is no way a 3 year old can open a balcony door. Have a great time. :)
