sailing tomorrow!!

hubby and I have passports but are we going to have to take them ashore at each port as ID?

can we just take photo ID, driver's license/state ID cards instead?

dont want to take the chance at losing our passports.

thanks

I take my Drivers License and Sail & Sign card only. I've never had any troubles getting back on the ship.

Same here. We sailed last month on the GLORY and left our passports locked in our room safe.

Your Capers will tell you to take your photo ID and your sail and sign card with you.

Everyone has different opionions on this.

I for one will be very careful about getting back on the ship. But I have read about many people getting left behind, and having to make there own travel arrangements. If you need to fly back to the US, you would need your passport. So I would tend to advise in the direction of having it with you if you are going to put yourself in a position that you might miss the ship . . . Ie doing lots of partying and drinking, or taking a non Carnival excursion.

Keep in mind that I have not actually gone on my cruise yet, but I did inquire about the situation for a person in our group who did not have a passport. This person could get on the ship in the US with a birth certificate, and get on and off the boat in each of the ports with no problem, but if this person was left, he would be up **** creek without a paddle or a boat. :D

That's a good point. My family and I never put ourselves in that situation so we don't have to take passports with us.

We just got off the Fascination. It was reiterated numerous times that you need your sail and sign card and a photo ID to get back on the ship. And it was checked to make sure you had this by security, homeland security.

i take my passport with me when i get off at the ports. you never know what can happen. what if you miss the ship and you're stuck on the island.. all your docs will be on the ship where they will be useless.
