SuzanneE Posted October 7, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 7, 2004 A friend of mine went to Belize last winter on a cruise. He said there were horse drawn carriage rides around the city. I wonder if anyone else is aware of them, and if you can prebook them?
oldmedic Posted October 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 10, 2004 we used a company called giddy yupp or giddy yap carriage rides(something like that) when we were there last time. our driver was named Ian. great guide! he even stopped and let us get a belkin beer at a little road side stand. I have his card at the house and will post the rest of the information when i can. he used little caps that popped when he threw them on the ground instead of a whip to get the popping sound to get the horse to trot a little faster. we enjoyed our time with him, although i honestly don't remember what we paid., but it seemed reasonable to us. SuzanneE Posted October 11, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted October 11, 2004 Thanks for your reply. Do you remember how long the ride was and what you saw? Sue
oldmedic Posted October 12, 2004 #4 Share Posted October 12, 2004 Sue, It seems like the ride was about an hour or a little longer, We went down a beach road where there was a hotel/casino being built, around through a residential neighborhood, past a school, a local park, the American Embassy and through part of what i think was downtown. I am a paramedic and remember seeing a Belizean ambulance parked on the side of the street. I looked for Ian's business card at the house, but as of this moment haven't been able to find it. if i do, i will certainly post it. It was a little windy the day we went, nice and warm, a shame the harbour was closed because of the high waves. The lady from Coral Breeze limited that met us at the flag pole (Monica?) is the one that hooked us up, although i can't remember her name for certain. you might email Paul at Coral Breeze limited and he might be able to advise you how to contact Ian. sorry i can't be more help, but if i do run across Ian's business card, i will post the information.
