For me, it was nice to be able to see every direction (except forward, of course). It was a nice view. Also, the sound of the wake.

The balcony at the stern of the ship is absolutely great! It is so peaceful back there, and you are also out of the wind. The wake is so calming and relaxing. On NCL at least, these cabins have bigger balconies than the same category on either the port or stern side.
