Cruising Crew Posted May 26, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2008 Hi - we will arrive in Corfu and would like to do a beach trip on our own. We have in the past fallen foul of Corfu taxi drivers who seem to charge what they want and then hold you to ransom to come back and get you. Does anyone have any recommendations we could pre-book with and suggestions where to go? There is an organised ships tour but this seems quite expensive for a family. Any advice welcome.:)
Destin Mom Posted May 26, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 26, 2008 Depending on the age of your children, you may want to consider renting a moped. We (husband and I, prekid arrival) rented mopeds for the week and had a blast driving around the island. This was years ago, but I recall they were very inexpensive. We were able to stop and see different areas, found beaches that were out of the way, etc. We did take a few taxis but had great luck with the drivers. Have a great trip! Rare taxatty Posted May 26, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 26, 2008 Rent a car instead--we used Corfu Sunrise and the price for the day was around $70 for an automatic. Budget was also near the pier. The island was very easy to drive around, and it was a reasonable trip to the nice Paleokastritsa beach. There are also other nice Corfu beaches to choose from--search this board.
