dpal2208 Posted May 26, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2008 Hi all, I have just booked two cabins on the Sky in October. I have never sailed with NCL but have cruised on many other lines. Can someone tell me something about this ship please? I understand it is in drydock getting "refreshed". How much refreshing does she need? Anyone been on her in Hawaii? Anyone have any pics of Balcony cabins for me? If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance. djp

Bigdog49 Posted May 26, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 26, 2008 thanks Bigdog, I saw the pics on their website, I was hoping for some new and updated information and reviews. thanks djp Then you will have to wait until July and they complete the wet dock. ;) You could go through the 3800+ pictures on webshots from The Pride of Aloha http://www.webshots.com/search?query=Pride+of+aloha&new=1&source=chromeheader Or start here http://cruiseclues.com/shipstips/prideofaloha.htm
dpal2208 Posted May 27, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted May 27, 2008 Thanks again Bigdog, very helpful information. Does anyone know what "refreshing" they are doing to the ship before it sets sail again in July? Are they keeping the same onboard staff or going more international now that they are not sailing around Hawaii with labor restrictions? Anyone have any further insight for this Virgin NCL cruiser? I have cruised most the other lines but never NCL. The last time I booked a cruise on NCL I was going to be on the Norway (I wanted to sail a vintage ship). 3 weeks before we left the "incident" occured and we scrambled to get on another cruise. Thank god for HAL, they came through with a balcony cabin for about the same price as the cabin we were booked in. I look forward to hearing from people. have a great day djp
Don Haynes Posted May 27, 2008 #6 Share Posted May 27, 2008 Much what they do to other ships, replacing worn carpets, especially around the elevators, redoing chairs, applying some paint, etc.
lolakat Posted May 27, 2008 #7 Share Posted May 27, 2008 I beleive they are also adding a casino and taking out the Hawian "cultural center"
dpal2208 Posted May 29, 2008 Author #8 Share Posted May 29, 2008 Thanks everyone. I hope the refreshing is a success because it sounds like it sure needed it. Can wait to see the first reviews of the ship djp
superflyjeff Posted May 29, 2008 #9 Share Posted May 29, 2008 I believe the ship was in need of refurbishing, but it's mostly to remove the hawaiian theme and install the casino...plus adding some of the Freestyle 2.0 upgrades as well. I'm sailing the Sky in Sept & Oct, but we def won't see any reviews before the first sailing in July.
