jwolf2006 Posted May 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 29, 2008 We will be in Split in July. We're planning on just walking around the old town on our own but thought we would take a guided walking tour of Diocletions Palace. There are several vendors listed, for about $20 pp, using a google search. Does anyone out there have any experience with any of these local tours that you could reccomend? Thanks
California Native Posted May 29, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 29, 2008 Dobar Dan! We just returned from our land vacation of Croatia including Split What you are referring to as Old Town is Diocletian's Palace. In all honesty you do not need to take a walking tour. If you choose to, in Peristil Square, there is a company that sells walking tours, they are located next to the TI. We were there in off season, so the we had a nice chat with gentleman who was selling them, we showed him our research, our sights to see list and asked him if we needed it...and he said they were basically for people who came to Split and had not learned about Split's history ahead of time. If you haven't seen my other posts and are interested in viewing our photos of Split and listening to some authentic Klapa music follow the link below and go into Croatia. Also, the bonus albums, where it says Hungry? will give you info on a yummy smoothie place in Split, a little off the beaten path. California Native Posted June 2, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 2, 2008 While I did not use Lifejacket tours and Rick Steves does mention them. I think it's important to note that the above poster is one of the owners.
