How far is it from the port of Venice to the City, by road or water taxi?

By foot, it's about an hour to St. Mark's square. You could probably walk it in less time, but you won't be able to as you'll be stopping to look at the scenery! It's a wonderful walk, but you need to enjoy walking as there are a lot of bridges to cross.

 

Water taxi takes about 10 minutes, but it's expensive.

 

There is a vaporetto stop fairly close by, and P&O will probably provide a shuttle bus between the port & the vaporetto stop. Even if they don't, it's only a 10-15 minute walk from the ship to the nearest vaporetto stop.

i have been informed by a young lady who post's on here and other sites that when in VENICE other week P&O laid on water taxi £8 to ST MARKS for as often as you wanted.

 

hope its still on when we go in july?
