Seattle - Airport to Port

Has anyone tried public transportation to port? Our money is tight and we're planning on taking the city bus. Any other budget options?

If you don't have too much luggage it might be a reasonable option for you to get downtown. You can catch either the 194 Express or the 174 local in the bus bays not too far from the baggage claim. The drivers will give you evil looks if you have too much luggage, but will generally still let you on unless the bus is standing room only, as it often is during peak periods, then they have been known to say no.

But, once you get downtown, it can get a bit more trickly. There is NO bus service that will let you off anywhere closer than about six blocks to Terminal 30 (RCI, HAL, Princess). The closest you can get is 1st Av South and Lander St, and will have to walk the rest of the way through the intermodal terminal area.

For Pier 66 (X and NCL), you would need to take a 16 or 66 bus labeled "Ferry Terminal" on the west side of 3rd Av, down to the ferry terminal, get off, cross the street and take the 99 Waterfront Streetcar down to Pier 66. It will be VERY difficult for you to get on and off of this bus with luggage, because they are old buses and do not have lifts to assist you on, like the regular Metro buses do.

But, all in all, it CAN be done, it just might not be much fun.

Karen, great advice. Will you please recommed what bus service from airport hotel to (Pike Place Market, Ferry, etc.) we will not have any luggage since staying near the airport. We will be sightseeing--pre cruise. Are you able to purchase day passes or pay as you go. Thanks, Hope

Day passes only on the weekend...$3.50 per person for all day.

Take the 174 or 194 as above to downtownm then walk to the market or the ferry from there.

Karen, thanks so much. One more question. We want to take the Ferry to Bainbridge Island and eat at a diner there. Do you happen to know the hours of operation for the ferry over there.

Hope

Not Karen, but the hours are from before you get up until well after you've gone to bed.
