girltrips4ever Posted June 8, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 8, 2008 Oh but here's a question for you . . . are you more than 60 days out? Our price is still dropping but I'm not sure if we have a chance at getting more obc's now that we're 50 days out. Our pvp mentioned that we were granted the last obc's because we were still more than 60 days out so we had "leverage" so to speak. In other words, she gave us the credit knowing that we could cancel the booking and just re-book at the new and lower price. Your thoughts/experience anyone? endlsop Posted June 8, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted June 8, 2008 I am sailing in 29 days. I have received 3 like I said. My PVP has left so I have been just out there... I called the regular 800 # a few times. The first time they said that I had to talk to my PVP because I am within penalty.. I told them don't have one then they said I need to call an extension to find out who I have been assigned. Then tried to contact my NEW pvp she was never there. So called the 800# got an awesome (this time)one he has been phenomenal. I knew not to give up because of these boards. So I asked him for his direct extension ( he is not a PVP but a cruise specialist) he gave it to me and he has been nothing but pleasant since. I also had my friend call him who is on the same cruise as me.
titlediva Posted June 8, 2008 #6 Share Posted June 8, 2008 We are 96 days out. We got Carnival past guest discount and 2 category upgrade (8a to 8c). What do I need to do to ask for an OBC? We're working with a TA. What's the catch on getting OBC??? Help!!
sms30519 Posted June 8, 2008 #7 Share Posted June 8, 2008 The OBC is for credit to your account if you have paid in full and then there is a subsequent price reduction. It sounds like you have already received past guest discounts but if you do see a price reduction then call your PVP and ask for OBC. If you have not paid in full, like me, then you just get a reduction off the final payment.
titlediva Posted June 8, 2008 #8 Share Posted June 8, 2008 Do I call a PVP even though the reservation has been transferred to TA, or do I call the TA directly? We're not paid in full yet - have to do that by 6/30/08. Sure would love to have less to pay!
beach for me please Posted June 8, 2008 #9 Share Posted June 8, 2008 My PVP is no longer there, she was super nice and helpful. The person that they assigned to me is not nice or helpful. Can you change PVP, we are 45 days out. Thanks for any information.

endlsop Posted June 8, 2008 Author #11 Share Posted June 8, 2008 You haven't had to make your final payment so you just pay less when you do or if you did then they will either credit your card or give it to you in OBC. My cruise did not start going down until after the 60 day mark. When you go on carnival website go through the motions as if you are going to book another cruise and in the promo code you put DP3 this is for past guest prices (not always available on all cruises). They will only give you OBC if you are within penalty. Mine is actually changing every couple of days. When I go through the motions I actually go as far to see what rooms are available. I see that there is less and less available so I might be at the end of my OBC but will continue to look. Oh yeah and depending on when you booked and what fuel charge you payed. When you look at price make sure that it is enough to cover the updated prices which goes up again on the 12th.
titlediva Posted June 8, 2008 #12 Share Posted June 8, 2008 The price it's showing on the Carnival site (with the DP3) is actually higher than what we are paying, but it's offereing a 2 category upgrade, which we already got when we originally booked months ago. SO, I'm ASSUMING that I wouldn't be eligible for any type of credit...right?

Can you change PVP, we are 45 days out. Thanks for any information. If you are unhappy, call the Carnival number and ask for a supervisor. Tell the supervisor that you had a great PVP and are not happy with the one you are currently have and wish to have the account transfered to someone they can recommend. They will do it.........make sure to speak with a supervisor, a regular PVP can not do it.

We just got another obc on Friday, and on Friday we were 15 days from sailing, so as long as it keeps dropping, keep calling. Now when I called this last time, I was told that this would be the last obc for a price drop that they could give me, that they were only supposed to give 1 after the 75 day mark, and we've had 3, but he would go ahead and give it to me with the understanding that it was the last one they could do. I happily agreed, it was $100 more for us ($50pp).:D Besides, I don't think it's gonna drop much more in the next 13 days anyway, and if it does, it won't bother me too much, we probably have more than what we know what to do with now anyway. girltrips4ever Posted June 8, 2008 #16 Share Posted June 8, 2008 I'm going to give it a try! The last credit we got was to a price reduction of $499 pp and now it is showing $449 pp so that would be $50 credit each so well worth the effort! It surely won't hurt to ask but I wasn't sure becuz we're actually 53 days out now and I thought you could only get the obc if you were within the 60 day penalty timeframe. Will let you know! drdaddy Posted June 8, 2008 #17 Share Posted June 8, 2008 This is really great information, IF one is lucky enough to be on a less than sold out cruise. Does anyone find that the prices change on any particular day? I had heard such things about the airlines that the "specials" go up on Tuesdays but I was wondering if there was anything similar for the cruise lines. girltrips4ever Posted June 9, 2008 #18 Share Posted June 9, 2008 Just called carnival's main number . . . didn't bother with waiting for my pvp who doesn't work on Sundays. Got the $100 credit from the price drop from $499 to $449 per person! We are 53 days out so call at will people . . . it works!!:D

According to Carnival's website, they do 4 updates on prices a day, so check as often as you can, it does work. :)

bubbles1209 Posted June 9, 2008 #22 Share Posted June 9, 2008 Bubbles, Was the reduction on your 9a? Thanks. No, it was on the 4E across the hall for my daughter & son. We have the 9A booked on a military friends & family discount from last November.
patches12 Posted June 9, 2008 #23 Share Posted June 9, 2008 OK. New cruiser here. Now I am wondering if I got a good deal to begin with! Carnival Destiny, 8-C on the Veranda (sp?) deck. We got Interliner rates (airline employees). Don't know if I can say the price so I won't. Since we have never cruised, we couldn't get past guest discount. Our cruise person said Interliner rates were much better anyway. How do I know? Cruise is July 6 and had to be paid for right away. Can I get any of those wonderful OBCs that others are getting or is it too late? If so, please tell me how! Thanks

I would ask before I paid it off under those circumstances, depending on who you booked with, different TA's have different policys. I booked ours directly with CCL, with 2 cabins under a military friends & family special, and 1 cabin under the past guest discount. The 4th cabin we booked had no discounts, but we did get the credit when the price dropped. Usually if past guest discount or military discount drops, for the same category you booked, you can get obc, I wouldn't think that the interliner rate is any different, but I can't say for sure being as how I've never dealt with that. Definitely ask what their policy is on that before you pay it off, that's the best I can tell ya. Good Luck.:)

Thanks If you want to know if the interliner rate you got was lower than just paying regular rates then just go to the carnival site and pretend to do a booking and compare the prices. I would venture to guess though that you got a better rate already and would not be entitled to any OBC unless the interliner rate has decreased since you booked and I imagine you would need to call your TA to find that out.
