Rare sunluva7 Posted June 16, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2008 Has anyone taken the ship's Sunset Glassbottom Boat excursion in Bermuda? Is it worth it? What was your experience, and was it worth the $52 charge?
Gram Cape Cod Posted June 16, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2008 Just returned from the Dream and we took the glass bottom boat ride and felt it was a "rip off"! We had heard people saying that but had already bought out tickets so it was to late for us. The trip was cut short by 15 minutes. We did go to the reef, were told it was too rough to go to see the turtles. To us the water seemed very calm. We then just rode around the bay where the ship was docked. We reported this to the people at the shore excursion desk and we were given a 20% discount, still too much for what we saw. It will be interesting to hear what others have to say. Rare sunluva7 Posted June 17, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted June 17, 2008 Was it the ship's SUNSET glassbottom boat excursion you were on, the one that leaves at 7:00 p.m. from St. George's, with open bar? I don't remember reading anything about turtles in the description. Has anyone else taken the Sunset Glassbottom Boat excursion in Bermuda? AuntieBarb Posted June 17, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 17, 2008 Has anyone else taken the Sunset Glassbottom Boat excursion in Bermuda? We did on the 6/1 Dawn sailing. We left from King's Wharf, but went to the reefs off of Nine Beaches. We were disappointed as well, but made the best of it. Comments and pics in my review; see my siggy line. Mayzir Posted June 18, 2008 #7 Share Posted June 18, 2008 Our whole family went on this and enjoyed it. It was very relaxing and nice to see the view from around the harbor. There was an open bar, not just Rum Swizzles like several excursions. We spent about 15 minutes over the reef. It was very interesting, saw lots of different fish and all of us enjoyed it. The timing was nice as we were able to grab dinner in the dining room of the Majesty when we got back.

Mayzir Posted June 18, 2008 #9 Share Posted June 18, 2008 They won't take more than a set number on the tour. It did not seem crowded and there were only a handful of open seats. You start the tour sitting down upstairs as you go around the harbor and out the cut to the reef. The bar is downstairs and it is easy to run up and down to grab your drinks. Once we were over the reef, everyone moved downstairs to look through the glass bottom. One of the ladies on the boat (who doubled as the bartender with a generous pour) talked about the fish and told us all about what we were seeing. Again, we all enjoyed it very much. :)

We have it booked already, and I was re-considering whether we should cancel. A sunset cruise with open bar sounds pretty relaxing, so I think we'll keep it on the itinerary for now.:)
