Your Expert Advice, Please

Hi!

I've posted before (about the bare naked ladies chartered cruise), and I find everyone's advice very useful and informative, so I need your help.

We have a reservation for Jan 18, 09 - we made the reservation directly with NCL. Lately, I've been researching the fares if we were to book via TA or online site such as American Discount Cruises & Travels (that site is on CC's page, I can mention it, right?). The price difference is about $245 and includes an OBC of $75 - obvious choice seems to cx the reservation with NCL and book on the web, right?

Just out of curiosity, would NCL match the other sites price?

I did contact the other site to see if I could trx my reservation and I was told I could, no problems, but I wouldn't get the web rate and that I would pay more by using her to make the reservation - seemed a little... odd (I work as a csr for an energy supply company and we offer all customers the rates listed on our website - there's no difference).

Any advice/suggestion/guidance would be greatly appreciated!

The rules on CC prevent us from naming any travel agent...either online or on land. That may be why you haven't gotten an answer.

My recommendation is to do your homework and CALL! Asking any TA is not a problem as they are there to serve you.

Good luck.

We switched our next cruise from NCL cruise consultant (since he was no longer with NCL) to a regular TA we have been happy with in the past. It has not been the same. I'm not sure why. I would stick with the one who brought you. Just my opinion.

I would call NCL and ask them about the price difference.

I do now that when I was trying to get a price reduction it was on New Bookings only.

From what I have been told you can't cancel and then rebook because NCL knows the names and will keep the price of the original booking.

OH MY GOSH Ms. Belp.. You brought back memories.. I haven't heard that saying in FOREVER..

To the OP... The key here is have you made final payment. If you have not made final payment you can take advantage of the lower fare through NCL. If you have made final payment, you can cancel as long as it falls within NCL's cancellation policy. I am not for sure what the other poster was meaning when they said NCL will know your name, like they will hold it against you.. I have heard of many people on this board cancelling and rebooking. If you are in the time frame where you will pay cancel fee's it will not be worth it. IF nothing else, I would call NCL and see if maybe you could get a upgrade, final payment made or not.
