boarding ship

As this is our first cruise can anyone tell us what is the earliest time to board ship, and can we go straight to our cabin. thanks

FO does things a little differently from most other lines. They let you on early (12 ish) but tell you your cabin will not be available till 2, though you can have lunch. Old hands go to their cabin as soon as they board and check if it is ready. (and possibly have a word with the room steward and cross hands with silver to get in their cabin earlier.
