Rachelleh Posted April 7, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2004 Has anyone taken the scuba lessons on the Navigator? If so was there a cost, how much instruction did you actually receive - was it enought to dive and feel comfortable - how about kids? Thanks for the info. Dr. Dean Posted April 7, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2004 Rach - We did the scuba lessons (its listed at RCCL under excursions - see that page for pricing - based on the island you want to scuba at) on V.O.S. this past January. It is an expensive excursion but you will be PADI certified and you get two open water dives (both are instructional dives). Expect to have to read the PADI manual, spend three hours in class-late afternoon (videos, quizzes, etc.), 3 hours in the pool-early morning and two 30 minute session in open water-the excursion per se. This will get you the first level of PADI certification. You can study and dive another day to get the full initial PADI certification. Our party of six enjoyed it. The instructors were quite good. I think doing it on the ship works IF you don't have time to do it in advance at your local YMCA. Happy Cruising... V.O.S.!
