debster818 Posted June 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2008 I was just wondering what happened to these ships? We sailed on Mardi Gras in 1984 and Celebration in 2007. Do they refurbish or destroy?
DqALEX Posted June 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2008 I was just wondering what happened to these ships? We sailed on Mardi Gras in 1984 and Celebration in 2007. Do they refurbish or destroy? I know the Celebration was just taken out of service and is going to get a Face lift. From what I understand its than going to Spain to sail with another curise line. DarthGrady Posted June 24, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 24, 2008 Mardi Gras was sold off in the early 90s, and scrapped in 2003. Here is a good link to her history: http://www.greatoceanliners.net/index2.html (Just click on "Ship Histories", and then scroll down to the 1960s, then click on "Empress of Canada".) And another good site: http://www.simplonpc.co.uk/EmpressOfCanadaPCs.html

DarthGrady Posted June 25, 2008 #10 Share Posted June 25, 2008 Thanks for the videos Don. I wonder why they left the Farcus Funnel intact? If I remember correctly they lopped it off of Jubilee and Tropicale.

debster818 Posted June 25, 2008 Author #13 Share Posted June 25, 2008 Toad, You have done quite a bit of cruising!!!! Celebration was our 2nd cruise in 07 with the 1st being in 1984 for our Honeymoon. I guess I have a long way to go to be in the runnings with you as far as cruise experience. Our next one is in October on the Valor. Can't wait.
