Money Money Money

Typically, when we leave the house we have about $250 in cash, $500 to $750 in traveler's checks for getting to the ship and for port stops. We usually return with a good bit of cash/checks. S&S bills will range from $500 to $1800 depending on length of the trip etc. I've only used a credit card once in Mexico and though I had no problems I'd probably never do it again unless it's a life or death thing.

Depends what you are doing in each port - independent our cruise line - cuz you most probably need to pay independent in cash (plus tip)- also souvenirs and transportation usually in cash.

I usually try to figure out how much cash I will need in each port depending on what we are doing - then add $$ for casino, bingo, airports, taxis, etc. If I have any money left at the end of the cruise I do to go the purser's desk and put it down on my S&S account - that way the pain is somewhat lessened when that cc bill arrives!
