rich40245 Posted June 30, 2008 #26 Share Posted June 30, 2008 I guess I never thought about it as Thanksgiving being the busiest travel time so that will at least be in our favor. What! Hate to rain on the parade, but nothing could be further from the truth. That time of year is the busiest time of year. The planes will be full. If something does happen to one of your flights, the best the airline has to do is book you on the next ‘available’ flight. That could be several days away. I was in Atlanta airport one Monday after Thanksgiving and Delta was overbooked. They were asking over the PA system for volunteers to give up their seat in exchange for a coupon and a seat on the next available flight. When people went to the counter I heard the agent say the next available was Wednesday afternoon – three days! "We are booked to fly in two days before our cruise leaves..." This is your best defense. Rich
Sue (mom of 3 boys!) Posted June 30, 2008 #27 Share Posted June 30, 2008 We are booked to fly to Florida on a Wednesday for a Sunday cruise departure. I am still concerned about our flights. They have changed twice already. If worse comes to worse and it gets cancelled, we will rent a car and drive from the NH border to Fort Lauderdale (and hopefully take our return flight home). With 3 boys, not a fun scenario, but we are getting on that ship somehow.
