Tabayana through Carnival...

I'm curious as to what the actual price is for the Tabayana Beach Break excursion through Carnival, not the range. I even called Carnival and they only gave me the $20-$50 price range. I wondered if someone could look it up on the Carnival.com site (when I do, it just shows that blasted generic price range) or had recently paid for it/taken it (and any opinions). The Roatan board is D-E-A-D. Thanks.

I'm sorry I don't remember the price, but we did this in 2005. It was the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. Well worth the price. Some of us did the horseback riding down to the beach and the rest road a bus. It was a great day and I would love to visit there on an extended vacation. You can snorkel right off the beach so buy some cheap gear and take it with you. We ordered drinks on the beach and walked down the beach and had pork, beans and rice from a beach side hut. The food was great!

THANK YOU! You don't know how hard it was to get that seemingly simple answer. I appreciate it. ;)

WOW! I was right! (I just posted in your other thread.)

Regarding what's included, R/T transportation, usage of chairs and facilities, and beverages: drinking water, ice tea and lemonade provided by Carnival; there was a table along the wall with a guy to serve them. (Remember to tip that guy and the tour guide from the bus if you're inclined... just a heads up!)

Food and booze are available, but not included. The restauant type area I saw advertized hamburgers and hot dogs with or without fries. Prices were advertized as well. I am sorry I don't remember those exact prices, just what I'd expect at a stand around here. Beers were like our prices as well. The drink speciality there is a Monkey-La-La, $5.00 and recommended on the island and by posters here. You can also rent snorkel equipment and a cushion for your lounge chair, which doubles as a raft.

There are two gift shops at Tabyana, and vendors are set up on the beach with items similar to what you'd find at the Port area. A guy sells hammocks at Tabyana, that's something I don't remember seeing at the Port though. You can get a massage at Tabyana as well.

I'm trying to remember more..... or ask more questions if you want!

We went in 2005, and instead of booking the excursion through carnival, we just hired a taxi cab driver right at the dock, and he charged us $15 to take us on a scenic tour, to Tabyana beach, Half Moon Bay, and another bay (I forgot the name), and when he dropped us off at Tabyana beach for the afternoon, we asked him to pick us back up in 3 hours, and we would give him more money. Well, we weren't sure if he would show up or not, but he did! And even if he hadn't, there were plenty of other taxi's at the beach for us. We tipped him pretty good, and in all it ended up costing about $45, but he was so sweet and spoke perfect english and gave us a great scenic tour! We took our own inflatable rafts and snorkel gear in our beach bags, but there were also rentals on the beach. There were also horseback riding excursions and women sitting on the beach that wanted to braid my hair. We were approached by several of these women, even children, til I finally gave in. haha. There was a great beachside bar/restaurant that served hamburgers, fish, and other items, very reasonably priced, and cocktails, beer, etc. One thing I will not forget next time is BUG SPRAY! There are no-see-ums everywhere! And you don't see them unless you are looking for them, but they are tiny biting flies. We went back to our room that night with hundreds of tiny bite marks, that didn't hurt, but itched and turned red! TAKE BUG SPRAY! Just incase!!!

TAKE BUG SPRAY! Just incase!!!

Always good advice (especially in the tropics!) You're not the first person to say something about bugs. More than a few have experienced this. I have to say that we did not encounter this when we were there May 10 this year. I did not hear anything onboard about it, either.... maybe it depends on the time of year?

I don't know if there is a season to them or not. We were there in July.

Did you deal with the bugs in July?

WOW...Thanks a TON for all the detailed info. I usually prefer independant tours, but this cruise we have a LARGE group (37 booked right now) and the conveinence of getting on and off the bus sounds great to me.

You're welcome!

We went to Tabanya after Dolphin Encounter last Friday and have to agree it is a beautiful beach. The beach was clean, plenty of chairs, and the Monkey LaLa, BEST FOO FOO DRINK EVER. If the price is $36 pp, I would think it is a good deal for all you get. The ride is about 20-25 minutes from port.

OBTW-if you are on the Legend, see Lloyd at the casino lounge. He does a pretty good Monkey LaLa substitute. I ordered one and before I knew it there were 10 other people wanting one, too.

Also, nice gift shop, lockers, and massage lady.

Hey Guys,

We will be there in Sept. Do you know if there are sand fleas at this time and if the beach is quite crowded? I have heard many people talking about this beach, so it must be popular... just hope it's not crowded in Sept.

Thanks!

We took the Glory on 6/28-7/5 and decided to do the Tabyana excursion with Carnival because of the shortened day at Roatan. We were afraid to go on our own to another beach in case we had problems getting back to the port!

It only cost us $36 per person and was well worth it! There is "security" on the beach so your stuff is safe if you go snorkeling or leave your chairs to walk on the beach. It was a beautiful beach and the snorkeling was great - we were surprised because it's a white, sandy beach! Try to get off the boat as soon as you can because we were the 1st van load at the beach and went right into the water - it was not crowded at all! By the time the rest of the groups got there, it was very crowded in the water snorkeling. They have decent bathrooms, food and showers there. The 1st van back to the ship was not until after lunch time, but it was easy to do. Left us plenty of time to shop in port.
