Coco Cay swimming question

Recommended Posts

I know that RCI makes you rent the vests if you snorkle on Coco Cay, but what if we swim with just masks and no snorkle? Do we have to rent the vests just to swim with masks or goggles? Thought we would as this ahead of time.

Even if you have your own mask, fins, and snorkel, you will have to rent a vest if you go out beyond the little shallow swim area. The little swim area is a small lagoon where people hang out and float on their mats, or just kneel in the water. If you go out past the rock outcropping, that is considered the swim/snorkel area and you will have to have a vest.

You can rent the vest, or snorkle, or fins ... or any combination. If I were you, I wouldn't rent the vest an "test the waters" so to speak. Just go without one, and if the guards tell you you need, then go get it. No sense spending the $10 each if you don't have too.
