Hair straighteners

:confused: Read one or two conflicting comments on the subject of whether hair straighteners work properly on board.

Can anyone tell me if I need any special adapter for 240v hair straighteners

It seemed to me that they had 2 different outlets for the different voltage at dressing table in the room. Dh called one a European outlet for lack of a better more official term.

I would definitely bring a surge protector strip or an outlet adapter, (that gives you more than one outlet to use). I have had no problem with hair straighteners, but since there is only one outlet I always bring along a strip or something else that gives you the availability to plug in two or more items ie, camera charger, dvr player, ipod etc. Good luck, don't worry!

Got of the Star this AM and just used a surge protector to use my straightner.

I used my straighteners with a UK-US adaptor, although there were the 2 prong European oulets as well so a UK-Europe adaptor would work as well.

 

I did find that they didn't get as hot as they do in the UK but that's probably because I was using the US plug which is only 110v.

Check the label on the straighteners. I was pleasantly surprised that my wife's were able to operate at 110-240V (GHD's) - so she didn't need to worry where she connected them to.
