Sweden - Hints from a local - fyi

Recommended Posts

My sister in law is from Sweden. I am spending a few days- while my DH is on business in Stockholm before our Voyager Baltic cruise and these were her hints for Stockholm:

When you're in Stockholm you should definitely make a visit to the old town "Gamla Stan" and the royal castle. You can watch the change of the guard if you're there at the right time. There are some nice restaurants in the old town and if you want to mingle with some Swedish celebs go to Cafe Opran. The capital is situated by lot's of bodies of water so you can take little ferries across to Djurgarden which is a big park with lot's to see and do too. Ask at your hotel for a map and some guidance.

Shopping is best on Drottning gatan and the big department store NK.

The underground "T-banan" works great if you want to get around and there's a great network of busses too. Taxi can be expensive and remember so is alcohol and lot's of other things too by the way.
