joycemoore Posted April 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2004 Going on Mariner May 2 with 2 other couples. One of the guys is a poker fanatic. Does anyone know if there are poker tables in the casino? One other question: What night do they have the midnight buffet by the pool? Joyce

Don't know about the buffet, but no RCI Casino Royale's have player poker. They all have Caribbean Stud, but I assume that this gentleman is on the Texas hold'em kick with the rest of the country, and wants to play that. No dice. This is a space and money issue. Poker tables are big, and make very little money for the casino. Remember, the casino on a ship makes almost (sometimes more than) enough to cover the cost of operations for that cruise. joycemoore Posted April 9, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted April 9, 2004 You're right, Texas Holdem is his game and he'll be disappointed, but I can understand why, now that you've explained it. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.
the_psycho Posted April 9, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Sure thing. As an added note, if he is interested, a very quality set of chips can be acquired on e-bay (if he doesn't have any already), and I am sure that you could find enough to play poker a couple of nights. I know that one of the guys that stayed in my room brough chips, and we played on night in the card club part of the Safari Club on Serenade. We had a great time, and we filled an entire table with just word of mouth. bbshopbass Posted April 9, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Is the nonsmoking area of the Mariner casino enforced? (On the Sovereign, people ignored the no-smoking signs and played wherever they wanted.)
rockyhou Posted April 9, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 9, 2004 I am a very respectfully smoker and would never smoke anywhere in a resteraunt even when I can...and usually opt to step out side when I want a smoke during my gambling time on board. But with all due respects casino's and bars attract smokers period!(if it is on board a ship or on land). If your going to enter any bar or casino you have to accept people will be smoking and either deal with it or leave. I admit I cannot stand the rude smokers who have no respect for those around them. But a word to the non-smokers. Nothing get's my goat more than when I am smoking and doing my best to contain the smoke away from those around me and somebody give that obnoxious fake cough(as if to say my smoke is bothering them). This will set me off everytime and I will no longer act like the polite smoker and contain myself. Just a word to the wise. If you find yourself next to a smoker that you do not like, your best bet is to just move away. joycemoore Posted April 9, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted April 9, 2004 What a great idea, psycho! That would most definitely work. I'll pass along the info. Thanks, again.
girlzillla Posted April 9, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 9, 2004 I don't remember seeing a non-smoking section in the casino. The casino really wasn't that smokey, they must have a good ventilation system on the ship.
