tinka14 Posted July 15, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2008 Hi, I know I seem to be asking for a rarity here but... has anyone who has sailed the Galaxy Eastern Med 10 night cruise recently got these scanned in at all or is about to post them somewhere on the net? Would really love to get a preview! Thanks in advance Tinka1421

Would really love to get a preview! Thanks in advance Tinka1421 Hi Tinka, I'm back from teh 20th June sailing. I don't have the menus - wasn't really impressed with the food this time round, but will be glad to answer any questions. Obviously we all like different things, but I found the menus boring and the quality of the food not as good as I'd hoped. I was sad that there were no frogs legs this time round. I thought the food was more "american" rather than "continental" as it used to be. That being said, overall the appetisers were pretty good, especially anything with smoked salmon (my fave!) in it. The snails at casual alternative dining were excellent. Soups were delicious, salads OK, it was the mains that disappointed. Didn't try the desserts. I have the dailies but don't have time to scan. However if there is any particular thing you want to check, let me know. They still do the usual stuff, trivia, music quizzes, karaoke, wine tasting, elegant tea, etc and also have new features such as Flava, a Med themed buffet and entertainment on deck, a brunch in place of the midnight buffet, a version of dancing with the stars, an awards/talent show (didn't actually see it as we were always so tired at the end of teh day). Entertainment wise they really seem to be branching out. Believe me you will have a fabulous time on board. The crew are fantastic and the itinerary is superb. I have a review posted under member reviews. Mine is the one that mentions chocolate in the title! BTW I was born and grew up in Nottm before moving to the USA 19 yrs ago. reneemor Posted July 15, 2008 #4 Share Posted July 15, 2008 Hi Susan: Can you tell me if they still offer shrimp cocktails and escargot every day in the main dining room? Thanks in advance.

Hi, Shrimp cocktail is still available every day in the dining room, but escargot aren't. However escargot are offered every day at casual alternative dining, and they were delicious! reneemor Posted July 16, 2008 #6 Share Posted July 16, 2008 Oh I'm going to miss the escargot in the dining room. Maybe if I speak to the maitre d it could be arranged. How was everything else on the ship? Can you recommend a great waiter in the dining room? Did they still have a chocolate buffet even though they have a brunch now? Sorry about all the questions. My last celebrity cruise was in Dec 06. Looking forward to do the TA this Dec 08 on Galaxy. Thanks again Susan. Renee

Renee Hi renee, Let me just clarify, escargots were on the dining room menu a couple of times during the trip. However they are on the casual dining menu EVERY night! I only ate them in CD and both times they were delicious. Our waiter was Yalcin, upstairs on the balcony, almost at the back overlooking the Captins table. We were at table 620. He was very good but will be joining the staff on the Solstice in Oct, so i think you'll miss him. I can't be sure about the chocolate buffet but have a feeling that may have been in the casino one night. We missed it. It is the "Grand Buffet" that the brunch has replaced. As for the ship she was in great shape. As I said, the crew couldn't have been better. Spa was great. Tours were excellent. Service was great. If only there had been 30 hours in the day, I might have had the chance to sample some of the nightlife!!! Please go to the Oasis Bar, Deck 11 aft and say hello to Collins if he is still there... I'm sure he'll remember Mrs Jackson and her insatiable appetite for the dry rose wine!!! Let me know if you have any more questions. Susan
reneemor Posted July 16, 2008 #8 Share Posted July 16, 2008 Hi Susan: Thanks so much for your input. It answered some questions that I was wondering about. I am looking so forward to my cruise in December. I will definitely visit Collins for you. I'm a martini girl myself. A few people have felt the same way that you do about the menus. They thought the food was not as good as before. I enjoy the food very much on board so I hope I'm not too disappointed. Anything that I do not have to make myself is usually always delicious to me!! I especially love the appetizers and soups. Thanks again Susan. Renee
tinka14 Posted July 16, 2008 Author #9 Share Posted July 16, 2008 Hi Susan, Thanks for your reply and hello to an ex Nottingham person!!! Small world isn't it! Well I don't mind USA style food as long as it's good and I've had a look at a few recent Century posts re menus so if the Galaxy has the same menu,(maybe someone knows if this is true) it doesn't look too bad but it would be nice if the ship tailors the food to where you are visiting so I would expect Med food, Italian, Greek, Turkish style food thrown in on our cruise! I'm not a fan of frog's legs but I do like a prawn cocktail and smoked slamon! lol! I'm interested in the spa and spa prices of course...I'm also interested in any dancing classes and wine tasting/food stuff so if you can pick those out of the dailies that would be fantastic!!!! Thanks again, Tinka14 aka Monika
