Walk out snorkle

We already have a our day planned in Coz...but we have one little activity we have not nailed down.

We are going to:

a) rent a car

b) spend a few hours at Mr. Sanchos

c) drive the east side and explore a bit

d) see the ruins up north

Someplace around 'B' my son (10) wants to see some fish. We dont need a full on snorkel...he just wants to be able to swim in an area to see a few fish. I know the park has a walk up reef...but $50 for 15 minutes of simming for the park fee is kind of steep.

Since we have a car...is there anyplace we can just hop off and dunk our heads in?

Dzul Ha, Money Beach, or whatever it is called these days, is a good place to try out snorkeling. You should be able to see plenty of fish there.

You can also snorkel at Mr. Sanchos or any of the other West side beach clubs, but you won't see nearly as many fish snorkeling from a sandy beach. Any place with a rock shore line will have more fish.

This is about as good as it gets from shore without paying $ for entry at Chankanaab. Lots of fish and we saw our first Moray there last year.

I have done it many times. It is near the Presidente Hotel. It is rocky and slippery to get there so you might want to wear some aqua socks/water shoes to get to the water. Depending on the experience and swimming skills, you might want to take or rent a life jacket. CozumelInsider dot com has a good map and info on doing things on your own.
