kontraxed Posted July 23, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2008 When looking at various websites, I often see "XX% off the Brochure Price" and then they give you their big discounted price which - coincidentally - often seems to be pretty much the same as the stated price of the cruise by the cruise line. Any ideas on where they get the Brochure Price? It seems to be pretty bogus to me.
discjoker Posted July 23, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2008 They get it from the cruise brochure. The cruiseline themselves are giving you a discount from the brochure price as well. No one pays the brochure price...just like no one pays the "rack rate" or price on the back of the door at hotels.
Toyz711 Posted July 23, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2008 the brochure are printed up WAAAAY before that cruise season starts...it's just an advertised price. never go by them... compare the prices by calling direct or off the cruiseline's website, that will give you the current price. even then, it could change weekly or, even, daily...as the demand changes the prices up or down. cruzeluver Posted July 23, 2008 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2008 It is, at least in part, a marketing tool. You are supposed to think to yourself: "Wow! This cruise should be going for $1500 but I'm getting it for only $850! What a deal!!" :p
