How is fising in Cozumel in early September?

We will be in Cozumel on 9/1 and thinking about doing a fishing excursion but I was wanting to know how the fishing is that time of year.

September is when it traditionally begins to wind down. We've caught sailfish in the middle of August, but then they begin to slack off. The only sport fish that aren't in abundance are Marlin, Sailfish and Mahi-Mahi, known more commonly here as "dorado", so there is descent fishing. I would take a "combination" deep sea and bottom fishing; when one isn't working often the other is. That way at least you get a shot at a better opportunity to catch some fish.

I fished there last November and we got into some cuda but that was it. We trolled for 4 hours, no bottom fishing. Perhaps that would have been the better way to go.
