bailey450 Posted July 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2008 We are signed up to do the Denrus Berlin Value Tour on August 26th. Has anyone done this tour and if so would love some feedback. Thanks
shepsm001 Posted August 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2008 just got back from their tour on 7/31 and 8/1 it was excellent. A big two thumbs up.
shepsm001 Posted August 8, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2008 I wish I went on their Berlin tour. Didn't like the Carnival Splendor on your own Berlin tour. If you can take Den Rus Berlin for less than the boat by all means do it. The Boat is overpriced. Be it advised, you are a long distance and time from Warnemunde which leaves little time to sightsee properly. But by all means do Berlin with Den Rus, a first class operation. movinout Posted August 11, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2008 We also did the Denrus 2 day Value Tour on the July 25th sailing of the Splendor and it was excellent. They were there waiting for us each day and at each stop...comfortable 22 on our bus which wasn't bad since it was a full size tour bus. Our guide was Elena and very knowledgeable. The two days included lunches in very nice restaurants with champagne and a shot of Vodka at both. We were given a short ride on the subway there which is something to see in itself. We were wondering why it was part of the tour until we saw the place! Chandeliers and marble columns..more like a ballroom hallway than a metro. The Hermitage, Peterhof and Yusopov palace not to be missed..a city of contrasts for sure. I couldn't believe I was actually in Russia. Disembarking from the ship was also no problem at all. Denrus gives you a lot in those two days and we were very pleased. Deb
josephmary Posted August 20, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 20, 2008 My husband and I would like to book a tour into Germany from Warnemunde. Is there a group going. P.
Dacoscosohana Posted August 21, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 21, 2008 My son and I took this tour last month. I was very torn about taking the tour into Berlin or staying near Rostock, since it would be a long drive into Berlin and I was worried about getting back late since the ship doesn't wait for people who are not on their tours. In retrospect, I am very glad we took this tour. It was much cheaper than the ship tours, and we only had 16 people in our group. We had a guide with us all day, plus we picked up a local Berlin guide when we arrived in Berlin. After hearing stories rom the people I met on the ship who took the ship tours, I was very glad we used DenRus. The ship "tour" that only included a train ride into Berlin, and then you have to sight see on your own cost more than the DenRus tour. We were also back in Warnemunde early enough to take a walk to see the area and walk down the pier before getting back on the ship. It was a long day, but the it was well worth going into Berlin since I don't know if and when I might make it back there again. I would definitely recommend DenRus. CGinMTL Posted August 22, 2008 #7 Share Posted August 22, 2008 I took the DenRus Value tour in St-Pete & Berlin. . St-Pete - There were 4 ships in town but DenRus does not mix groups. We were on the Rotterdam ( 7 in the group). We had a small mini-bus with guide and driver. Our guide was Lana ( sveltlana) she was very knowledgeable & very passionate. We had a FABULOUS 2 days. Prinsendam - 8 in the group. Crown Princess - 31. . As for Berlin, we were 7 again ( from 2 ships). This was more a driving tour with photo stops then a guided tour. We were in a minivan and our driver was a little to agressive. Average speed 180 km / hr. With a top speed reaching 200 km/ hr. . Lunch was included on both tours and I would not hesitate to recommend DenRus to anyone instead of the ship tours. Hiowever, e-mail communications seem to be better then trying to get them on the phone. .
love2learn Posted August 27, 2008 #8 Share Posted August 27, 2008 Yes, We took the DenRus Complete Berlin Value tour, and did enjoy the tour. I don't doubt it was a better tour than the tours that the ships offer and for a better price. We saved $64 a person compared to a similar tour offered by our ship, and we had 8 in our group. We really enjoyed our escort Doris, and we liked our Guide. We were disappointed though when Doris anounced our itinerary saying that we would be driving about 2 hours and have a bathroom break and then drive about another hour to pick up our guide. We had chosen this tour because the DenRus site stated that the drive into Berlin was about 2 hours, when in actuallity it was three hours each way. The tour is advertised as a 12.5 hour tour but we left at 8:45a.m. and returned at 8:15p.m. making our entire time 11.5 hours. We really did enjoy the tour, but because of the additional driving time and one hour less total, we felt like we had missed 3 hours of touring and shopping time. If we had known that we would have the full 6 hours drive round trip and one less hour than advertised we would probably have chosen to stay closer to the port. I am interested to know other's experience there in Germany.
