Water destination or chance the zoo/monkey sanctuary?

Hi All,

In my research I have found that many of you warn of the heat when visiting the zoo. You also advise those traveling to bring bug spray. That is all fine and makes sense...but here is my dilemma. I will be traveling to Belize in April (not sure of temps that time of year) with a 2 year old and I am wondering if we should even attempt a trek to the zoo and take our chances of the heat making her tired and cranky. Or, are we destined for yet another "beach break" itinerary to just let her have fun in the sand and water? Any suggestions from all of you (especially those that have been to Belize with a toddler) would be greatly appreciated.
