My TA quoted this oceanview room for the Jan 4 sailing. Is this good? If not, can you recommend a better room? Thanks!!

That cabin is extremely close to the doors by which people will be entering and exiting the ship all day during your port stops. The gangways are the blank areas between the groups of rooms on that deck. That means that at busy times (like first thing in the morning, when you might just want to stumble upstairs to the lido for coffee and a bagel) you could well find throngs of people congregating outside your cabin area waiting to get off the ship. If that wouldn't bother you, then you will be close to the gangway and not have to enter into the elbowing contest to get onto an elevator in the evenings, so it might work well for you. It just depends on your tolerance/expectations.

In my view, the Category F oceanviews on Deck 5 would be better, since they aren't in the embarking/disembarking line of fire, so to speak.. If you look at the Gem deckplan at this link you will see which ones they are -- http://www.ncl.com/nclweb/fleet/deckplan.html?shipCode=GEM

It's not really an "oceanview" cabin, but a porthole.

Try to get a few decks higher and the porthole will become a window.

Go to NCL.com and look at the deck plans of the Gem Click on the cabin on the plan and you will see what it will look like. Then decide what category cabin you would like.
