Let's see here. What do you want? I'm guessing a nice laidback atmosphere where you can relax, sip a foo foo drink and watch junior have a good time. Am I close?

 

I would take him to Reef Yucatan Resort and turn him loose on the beach or in the kiddie area next to their gorgeous pool, sit back and drink pina coladas at the open bar. If you want to show junior a little culture, take him on their short ruins tour to Xcambo. It only takes a 45 minutes or so. It is all included in the price and you can book it when you get to Progreso. Plus you will still have time to shop for trinkets in town.;)

The Reef Yucatan would be great for a family trip! The kid's club has art activities and a kid's pool with a slide. They have 2 big pools, one for swimming and one for sports, such as volleyball. You can get sports equipment with an ID at the recreation center - wave boards, ping pong paddles, footballs (both soccer and American), etc. They have banana boat rides and sea kayaks at a small additional cost.

Also, the all you can eat buffet goes over big, as well!
