Afterwards, I had my last supper in Le Bistro with three gods-in-their-own right. I would tell you about it more, but I guess you just have wait for the unedited version to come out when I turn 90!

coka....were there any drink specials during the week? On one cruise we had a special every day and even one night martinis were $5 before dinner.

Did you happen to notice the late night snacks? For some reason my DH is always looking for a bedtime snack when we are on a cruise and he won't call room service.

Still reading and enjoying your comments and inuendos!

Thank you, Coka! Not only was it an awesome review, but written like an eloquent novel that you just can't put down...which I didn't. I'll be on the Dawn next week and will take with me some of your wonderful reflections, especially #7. Ever think of writing your own novel? I would be the first on line! Thanks again!!!! :D :) ;)

Bravo and cheers on a thoroughly entertaining review!

I'm taking at least two things from your posts for our upcoming cruise to Bermuda.

What a thoughtful idea to help the cabin steward on debarkation (stripping/cleaning stateroom).

Also, I have promised myself to carve out a little piece of paradise for some reflection and regeneration of spirit; a vacation within a vacation.

Your writing captured the true essence of what a cruise can be. Thanks for passing it on. :)

I strolled casually through the quaint streets of St. Georges peeking into store front windows while noticing various restaurants about. One with high reviews commonly heard about is The Carriage House. I did not eat there but those that did gave me favorable responses. My stroll lasted long enough to see overall the location of everything. The one thing I could not find was a book titled “The Sea Venture.” An historical account of the 150 people and one dog that survived after crashing into Bermuda’s reefs, she was one of the ships heading over to Jamestown, Virginia. Many survived the island, built two boats and successfully landed in Jamestown 10 months later only to find most of their counterparts dead. The Sea Venture survivors ended up rescuing the Jamestown survivors and sailed back to Europe. The Water Street’s bookstore owner told me the book is no longer in print. Maybe the internet power will help me find one because the story is indeed intriguing.

Coka:

If you haven't already obtained a copy, it appears "The Sea Venture" is available on Amazon.com and a few copies are for sale on Ebay. If you just want to read the book (and want to save the $$ toward your next NCL cruise), our local library has it and maybe yours does too! Thanks for the recommendation, as it really does look like a fascinating story - especially so after having recently visited Jamestown, Virginia.

Thanks for the great review. We'll be sailing the Majesty out of Charleston next year and the reviews you and Radio and others have posted have greatly added to my anticipation!! Glad you had a wonderful trip - it sounds like you have a great approach to life in general. A Belated Happy Birthday!

Coka;

Thanks for a great, well-balanced review and your 10 brilliant tips! Your writing was so entertaining....funny and poignant at the same time. I must say that you and I are kindred spirits....I too hope that 45 is the new 35 as my 45 year old brain thinks I'm still 25...lol. I also heartily agree with your tip #1 "The secret to the Majesty is not Bermuda. The secret to the Majesty is her crew." I believe that is true of many ships that I have sailed in the past and it is what is drawing me to sail the Majesty (and NCL for the first time on 9/20/08).

Some of my best cruises have been on smaller, older and less glitzy ships....the Galileo, Horizon and Zenith to be specific. From everything I've read in the last couple of months about Majesty, I'm expecting a ship similar to the Zenith (in both size and warmth of the crew). That warmth is what drew me back to the Galileo, Horizon and Zenith again and again. That is more important to me than the size of the cabins; the tastiness of the food or the quality of the entertainment.

Thank you for showing me that warmth through your review....it is making me even more excited to go on the Majesty! Best regards to you! Kelli

Hi Coka,

You had me laughing from taking communion to waiting for your Knight!:):)

As I've never been on Majesty, it was fun to read Radio's blog and then your delightful review.

Hope we have a chance to sail together one day.

Thank you! I'm glad you had a chance for a last minute getaway before school starts.:D

FireLT5: I do not know how many children were on board. There seemed to be a good representation of all age groups on this sailing. No age overpowered another.

* * * * * *

Bunkie103: Late night snacks in the casino included quartered sandwiches, cookies, other finger foods. Deck 10 aft had 24 hour grill. At times it might appear nobody is there or nothing is served, but you just give a gentle hello to the guy inside and he will come out and make you something!

In the Freestyle Daily, they had bar promotions each day.

Drink of the Day: Dark and Stormy, Tropical Itch, Mangopolitan, Rebellious Fish, Going Coco Nuts, and Pain Killer were 7.95 served in souvenir glass.

Smoothie of the Day: Dirty Banana, Cherry Lime Aid, Melon Madness, Sunshine Smoothie, Tuti-Fruitti, Passionate Kiss, Peach Bellini were 8.95 served in a souvenir glass.

They also had poolside drinks: Bon Voyage, Cool Runnings, flavored daiquiris frozen amoretto cappuccino, frozen margaritas, sea day cocktail bash

Coffee Drink Specials: Nutty monk, chocolate passion, keoke coffee, nutty monk, Jamaican coffee, Irish kiss, Sugar Daddy Prices about 5.50

Frame 52 Disco: They served special shots each evening for about 3.50 each. Specials included Nutty Irishman, WooWoo, Blue Kamikaze, Mud Slide, Jelly Bean, Melon Ball, and Georgia Peach

Buy six bottles of beer in a bucket for the price of five.

Each lounge had a drink menu with a lot of variety to select from.

The NCL-U seminars included the drink tastings. These include a fee.

Two Pub Crawls on this sailing for a fee

Lyndyb: Thank you very much for finding the book on Amazon! I had an internet printout of a knight's diary who sailed the Sea Venture...Written in old English, I gave it to my knight!

* * * * * * * * *

Maryfrei, you have mail.

Thank you all for your kind responses. This time I will remember much more about the Majesty other than her disco!

Coka: We sailed on the Majesty in July...it was our first cruise and we enjoyed it so much and reading your review made my heart happy! I wrote a review in the forum section after returning (I couldn't get it to post correctly to the "review" section) but after reading yours I only wish I could have written one as well as you! Thanks for taking so much time and I wish you happiness and health as you "embark" on a new year in your life!

Hi coka,

We are back from our cruise and finally got a chance to read your adventure. I am glad you had a good birthday cruise and got to live it up a bit. Have you been able to figure out who decorated your cabin for your birthday?

Thanks for the reply coka...can't have DH hungry at bedtime. Looking forward to trying some of their drink specials.;)

Do not rule out the French fries at the 24 hour grill on Deck 10 aft. I hardly ever eat them in real life...I sure made up for it on this cruise...they were yummy!

Haha! You did not give us any time to do anything else, booking at the very last minute like that. Liz sought the help of someone who has been very helpful to us in the past and, with his expert guidance, we were able to contact the HD. So, it was truly a team effort ;) . We only asked that you be acknowledged on your special day and received a nice e-mail that he would be happy to do so. I think that once they met you, they rolled out the Red Carpet!

We were laughing when we read your review and you mentioned meeting the HD. We received an e-mail from him confirming that they would acknowledge your birthday the day before you met him. We had no idea what would be done.

Coka,

Talk about a day late and a dollar short!!! It sure took me a long time to find your review of the Majesty. It's been a busy year for us and I just don't spend the time here that I used to.

I knew you would love the Majesty and her wonderful crew! There is just something about her and them that makes for a special cruise, at least for us. I'm glad you had a great birthday and got to spend it on the Majesty and in beautiful Bermuda.

Hope you had a great time at your sister's party also. I'm sure you're thrilled to have her back home and close by.

Now, here you go again!!! Have the time of your life reuniting with Robbie and hopefully some of the friends you made on your Gem cruise last year.

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!!

What better way to spend it!!! :D

Hi Jackie!

I thought, 'where did this thread come from?'

Haha, the Gem friends have either been 'let go' or found employment elsewhere! Time to find out what is going on. Let's hope Robbie is still watching over the bridge guys.

Happy holidays and warm wishes to you too,

Hi Louise,

Ha ha... Brought it back to life.

I hope there will be a few of them left from last year, but I know you'll make plenty of new friends and have a ball. I don't have to remind you to take your dancing shoes. ;)

I know Robbie is still doing a good job and watching over all.

Have a fantastic voyage!

Jackie
