muglas Posted August 11, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2008 Can anyone tell me how far it is to the city centres of Thessaloniki and Istambul from where the Navigator of the Seas docks? We have been to Istanbul before on a land trip and would probably prefer to do our own thing when there again. Thanks

Thanks I was on the Celebrity Galaxy last fall, and the place where we docked is, I believe, where all cruise ships dock although someone might correct me. The dock is on the new city side of Istanbul with the Golden Horn dividing it from the old city. There is a tram station within easy walking distance of the pier, and from there you can take a tram over to the old city where Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar, Hagia Sofia et. al. are. I don't know the details as I was on a private tour. However, one couple in our tour group got off in the old city and took the tram back to the ship and said it was easy to do.
