LindaKE Posted August 11, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2008 What do you do with carry-on until they allow you into your cabin? Do they have somewhere to put luggage that is secure? (I'm thinking about the security of medications and jewelry primarily.) Or do we grab a table, pile everything (carry-on, coats, etc.) on, then take turns going to the buffet while someone sits with luggage?
OldBaldGuy Posted August 11, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2008 My carry-on is a day pack, I can wear it around if needed. On our one prior cruise, we could get into the cabin as soon as got on board, and it wasn't all that much past noon...
AFAMILY Posted August 11, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2008 What do you do with carry-on until they allow you into your cabin? Do they have somewhere to put luggage that is secure? We had a small carryon that we kept with us when we went to lunch in the Venetian. That was about at about 12:30 or so. We then dropped it off in the cabin, maybe 1:30, which was already made up from the last passengers. You can always go straight to your cabin after boarding and try to leave it there. You will probably be OK with doing that, but if possible let the steward know about it just to be in the safe side. You'll probably see him/her in the area of your cabin. Have fun on your cruise! :)
zimmerjulie Posted August 11, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2008 Usually we take the carry ons to the dining room for a full service lunch. I would recommend this. It is so nice and peaceful after the hustle and bustle of traveling and check-in, plus a quiet contrast to the buffet. On one cruise the dining room was closed for a special event so, yes, we took the carry ons to an outdoor seating area, then took turns going to the buffet. Toyz711 Posted August 11, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2008 we got on early, last dec....we drove down to new orleans. since we had driven most of the night, after DH got off work..he was tired. we got on the ship early, went up to the buffet and out to the back area. he sat, relaxed...made some phone calls (hadn't told his family we were going on a cruise, had fun calling and saying "guess where i am") we tried to get to our cabin, but they had security roaming around...they caught us once. we did get to the cabin about 1pm, dropped everything off. there was a real nice crew member, working the buffet area in the aft...he made sure we had everything we needed. Boat_Drinks Posted August 11, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 11, 2008 We went straight to our room, which was already made up and ready for us. Dropped the bags and then went out exploring. Even if your room isn't quite ready, your steward may have no problem with you dropping a couple of carry-ons in the room, just be sure to let him know so he can keep the door closed/locked when he's not working in your room.
