All Things Fascination

Hey everyone...

First time cruiser here, on the Fascination 12.07.09. We are actually getting married on the third day in Key West, and was wondering if the 2nd or 3rd night is formal night? I'd like to wear my dress for more than a few hours, and figured what the hey? Whats more formal than a wedding dress? lol

Thanks!

Just got back on 4/4/09. We had formal night on Tuesday night; which was the 2nd night on ship. I had a great time. It was just me and the wife. The grandparents came down to watch the kids for us. It was a delayed honeymoon/10 year anniversary for us. It was also our 1st cruise ever!! Happy to answer any questions you may have. Dan

Hi Dan,

I was wondering if you would know- is the deli and the ice cream shop included, or are they considered specialty shops that I would need to pay for?

Thanks!

Just got back from the same cruise that Dan was on. I can help with any questions as well.

The Sub Shop is located upstaris in Coconuts Grove (I think thats what its called) right next to the 24 hour pizzeria. All sandwiches there are free, but I wouldn't call them giant subs or anything. Also, there is soft serve ice cream and custard available in the same area for free as well with your choice of either in a dish or on a cone.

The only "specialty shop" on this ship would be the coffee shop where they have starbucks like coffee and special desserts. Everything else (except alcohol) is free, including 24 hr room service. Pizza and ice cream are open 24/7 too....

Try breakfast in the dining room at least one morning... it is such a nice treat to be waited on.

Is there an ATM and if so what is the ser charge? I just dont want to travel with allot of cash but I do want access to it also.

Thanks

Dave

It's near the casino (duh) and is around $4 I think... BUT it is not always working as the casino does gobble up a bunch of money from it.

I'm pretty sure there was also one on the Empress deck just before the shore excursion desk on the left side. It's by the entrance to the rooms. It was a ATM or one of those photo develop machines. I walked by it every day but never paid that close attention to it.

Can I tell you how excited I am to be waited on, and to eat for "free". Being a wife and mom of 3 kiddos, that is going to be a dream come true! Haha, thanks!

If you think the "waited on" and "free food" is great, wait until you throw your towels on the ground and someone else picks it up and puts a clean one on the rack for you. And, wait until your room is clean when you come back from the pool and clean again when you come back from dinner. And, when it's time to eat, everyone doesn't look to you to fix it, feed them, and then clean up after them. When it's time for fun, it's not your job to make the "fun" happen . . . . . .I'm a mom of 2 and this is exactly why I like cruising.

I have a friend that travels all over the world, never the same place twice (and man). He makes fun of me for always cruising . . . but to me, if I took a trip with my family anywhere but a cruise, everyone would be looking at me to get us from point a to point b, I would be figuring out where we would eat and what the budget was, etc., etc. Cruising to this mom is the ultimate in vacations! Going on the Fascination in 60 days!

Well; I am currently TDY with the Air Force in New Mexico for the next 45-60 days. My laptop harddrive took a dump 2 days ago and now I have to start from scratch. I will be able to post a review, but there will be no pics.... which stinks because I took alot; and now they are lost. I believe my wife has a few on hers but will not have access to them until June. Anyway, it was an awesome time, an awesome trip, and cannot wait to go again.

I'm pretty sure you can cash a check at the Purser's desk . . .

From the Carnival Site: Guests may use their personal checks on board to acquire a cash advance. Global Cash Access (GCA) provides this service by debiting the guest's checking account, using the account number on the check. The guest must have available monies in the checking account that the check is drawn on.

Important Note: Just like debit cards, the money is immediately debited from the guest's checking account.

For this service, GCA charges 5.5% of the value of the cash advance requested or a flat fee of $5.50 if the amount requested is $100 or less.

Since the guest's checking account is debited (same as if using a debit card), the personal check is returned to the guest.

Both the Information Desk and the Casino offer this service.

Limits are determined by the available monies currently available in the guest's checking account.

We do not accept Cashier's Checks and Bank Checks.

NO! At the resort it is $105pp (if available depending on guests at the resort) and around $155 thru the ship.

You can check threads out under "Bahamas" and see about doing a room thru Comfort Suites (Atlantis Island) ...

Does anyone have pics of the balcony from the room or on it? I have looked but not much luck. I was just wondering how much room there is for relaxing.

TIA

Dave

Cat11 is good for standing and maybe sitting sideways... still love the place way up... Cat12 has plenty of room... not a Cat9a on newer ships but room to relax.
