Kristen2001 Posted August 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2008 I'll be on a Royal Caribbean transatlantic next month and when we stop in Dublin I would love to go to Powerscourt. I feel the shore excursions to Powerscourt would be a bit of a waste of money (I am vegetarian/don't drink beer, and the excursion says we'll get a prepared lunch/drink, and Powerscourt is only $5 per person to get in, etc). The two excursions are $99 and $78 per. My question is, if the ship docks at the port (I don't know which one), will I be able to get a taxi to Powerscourt? I've read that Dublin taxis are predominantly at the airport. Also, how do I know I can get a taxi back to Dublin (for sightseeing after Powerscourt) and then from Dublin back to the port? Any advice would be very appreciated! Kristen
Fblack Posted August 13, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2008 We were in Dublin a few months ago on a Celebrity cruise. They did have a few taxis at the port. But it's very industrial and not many taxi's. They did have a shuttle that took people into Dublin and it parked very near Trinity College. The drop off point was at Nassau and Klldare Street. You can easily get a taxi from Dublin. But I would have them wait for you and return you to Dublin. Then just take the shuttle back to the ship. Kristen2001 Posted August 13, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted August 13, 2008 I did some research and it seems like the bus would be the best option. I've figured out which bus takes you to Dublin and then connection to Powerscourt. Has anyone had any experiences with the buses? Only thing I'm worried about is lack of buses or something.
