Yucatan (Progreso) dropped port

Does anyone know why Yucatan (Progreso) port was dropped by Royal Caribbean? I just got a letter from my travel agent, with no explanation, that the port was going to be skipped and replaced with a day at sea. I don't care, but I'm just curious if there is a reason.

Three ports are pretty much the norm for seven day cruises from Galveston (I'm guessing you were on the Voyager). Now that Costa Maya is back up and available, really no need for Progreso.

We stopped in Progresso last March, not much there, unless you want to take a one hour ride to Merida, capitol of the Yucatan. Barring rough weather , I'd rather be at sea.

I was told it was due to congestion at Progreso, but I feel it is the cost of fuel and RCCL was able to drop it and save on dock fees while there.
