lovevacadays Posted August 22, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 22, 2008 Anyone have any thoughts/info on the Pride and the Hawaiin Cruise? I've never cruised Hawaii or on NCL. Thinking about doing this one in Spring 09. Any pros/cons would be appreciated
Rare ohioNCLcruiser Posted August 22, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 22, 2008 I have some pictures of the ship and itin on my website http://www.shipblogger.com
TreasureQuest Posted August 23, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2008 With 6 cruises on Royal Caribbean behind me, booking NCL was a new experience for me too. I surprised my DD with this cruise last month and we had a wonderful time. You're welcome to get a good look at one cruiser's experience ... up close and personal! http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=821097

flag fan Posted August 23, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2008 An NCL Pride (of America) ship is the best way to see Hawaii. Get to see all (well, most of) the islands and great sailing and great views getting from one to the other. Plenty of time in port to get a good sampling of each island (but a pre- or post-cruise stay in Oahu for a few days is needed to really see that island) and I found the American crew (on the Pride of Hawaii trip I went on last year) to be great. There are some sights--the the cruise off the Napali coast--that were breathtaking and really only possible on a ship. The NCL ships in Hawaii were the only ones sailing with American crews (except river and coastal ships). There were a lot of complaints about the service on the 3 Pride ships (Pride of Aloha, Pride of America, and Pride of Hawaii) at first, but 2 of the ships have been moved to different itineraries (the higher costs for American crews and lack of casinos on board made them less profitable than other itineries), so the remaining Pride of America ship should have the best of the American crew on it. Since all the ports are American, you don't have to worry about passports, local currency and language, and strange ATM machines (if you are American), but there is plenty beautiful and exotic about each island. You should have a great time on an NCL Hawaiian cruise.

lambs2 Posted August 23, 2008 #7 Share Posted August 23, 2008 Although our PoAm cruise was two years ago, I am sure much of the information on the islands and the ship in my review below is still relevant. Have a fabulous trip! http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=19142
Addictedtwo Posted August 23, 2008 #8 Share Posted August 23, 2008 It's a great way to see the islands of Hawaii. We were there in Jan. and have just recently booked to go back in 2010. One of the best features of this cruise is that you board the ship in Hawaii and you go to 4 islands with 1 overnighter in Maui. So your getting to see more of Hawaii with no sea days.
