How to get to Alta Vista and La Cholle

My husband and I will be making two cruises to the Mexican Rivier--one during October and one during December. We would like to take side trips to Alta Vista from Puerto Vallarta and to La Cholle (La Soledad de Maciel) from Zihuatanejo. I have two questions--first, does anyone know how to arrange an excursion to these sites? We do not want to rent a car to drive to these locations, and there don't seem to be scheduled excursions to these sites. Second, is October or December best for these excursions? The petroglyphs at Alta Vista are along a stream, and perhaps with the rainy season recently over that would be a better excursion for December? We would appreciate any experience or suggestions.

I'll post your question on a local Vallarta board and see if any of the locals knows about a guide that will drive you to this destination. How much time will you have while in Vallarta?

Thank you for your help in posting my question about travel to Alta Vista to a PV bulletin board.  On Saturday October 25th our ship will be in port at PV from 9am-6pm; on Thursday, 04 December out ship will be in port from 8am-10pm.
