Mark_in_Colorado Posted August 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2008 I have read most of Gixer's posts on the falklands and I was planning on taking the rockhopper excursion to murrell farm until I saw this recent article "The Korean trawler, Ocean 8, caught fire and later sank in the Berkeley Sound on May 19th ,2008 carrying with it a reported 137 mt of gas oil and heavy fuel oil. Volunteer Pt, Kidney Cove, and Berkely Sound Coast of Murrell Farm could all suffer as a result of this sinking" Does anyone know anything more about this, has the area been cleaned up? I wonder if the penguins will return there this season or if I should plan on a penguin experience elsewhere?
Fabian52 Posted August 29, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2008 We have booked this particular tour through NCL Sun cruise in Dec ;7 - 21st. If there was a problem I would think that they would not offer this particular excursion.:o
