Snorkel and Beach-Best of Both Worlds

Recommended Posts

My husband wants to snorkel in Belize but I just don't care for it and want to do a beach day. I don't mind at all waiting on the beach for him while he snorkels. Any tour recommendations that would allow for that?? Even better would be if I don't have to swim to shore off of a snorkel boat. He would be content with snorkeling from shore, not off of a boat. Looking for about a 3 to 3-1/2 hour excursion.

I don't see this one offered through our RC cruise. How far away is it from the Belize City dock? Looks like just what we are looking for. I'd rather book through the cruiseline but I would think a private tour would offer this. Can it be done in about 3 hours? I've read that a lot of these small islands are about an hours boat ride away.

I second Goff's Caye.:D :D It picked us up directly from the Legend and delivered us back. It was about 4 hours and there was time to shop in town near the pier after we got back. The boat gave us the option of getting off at the pier on the island. There was some shade and it was shallow right near the island for easy snorkeling or wading. There were some palm trees, minimal food and drink and port a pots at the pier. It was beautiful and the island that you can see from the island with buildings is the harbormaster's island. We followed this channel out of Belize and dropped off the harbor master at that island. (Well he did leave by a boat:rolleyes: ) This is excusion was sweet and to the point and fun.

Its about a 4 hour tour. The ship must tender anchor about 5 miles of the

Belize shore due to the depth of the water. When you come in at a very

slow pace you weave between all the cayes. Once anchor you then are

picked up on the east side of the ship. They take you away from belize to

Geoff caye. You spend several hours and then can go back to the ship or into

town. We chose to stop at the ship to change and drop of our beach stuff.

I am sure there are private companies from shore which will book it for you.

The snorkeling is one of the best. Its very easy to do with lots of coral and

wild life to see.
