Alessandrina Posted September 6, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2008 Is there a Captain's Welcome Party and Introduction of senior officers on the first formal night on Pacific Dawn? Thanks.
LouLou28 Posted September 6, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 6, 2008 Hi Alessandrina Yes the Captain's party is normally on the first formal night. (About the only time you get offered a free drink on board too!!!):D :D
aussie57 Posted September 6, 2008 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2008 If you're a past cruiser you can go to the Captain's Cocktail Party as well, & get another free drink!
Duck Creek Posted September 6, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2008 Hi All Was on the Pacific Dawn in May and with 'Anytime Dining' in the only dining room and the Cafe del Sol Buffet available there was no Captains Welcome Party on either formal night. There was the 'Captains Club Past Cruisers Cocktails' on the second formal night. That is by invitation only after you have completed a form that is in your cabin. Unless something has changed on the Dawn in the last couple of months, no welcome drinks. I note the previous posters have been on the Pac Sun where fixed dining sittings still apply so that is probably why they still had the Welcome Party. Alessandrina Posted September 6, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted September 6, 2008 That is too bad. It is nice to see who the Captain is and welcome us aboard. For me, this tradition will be missed.
Duck Creek Posted September 6, 2008 #7 Share Posted September 6, 2008 Hi Alessandrina Yes it is a shame but with anytime dining, don't really think it would work. It also gave a purpose to dressing up on the first formal night. Although the majority of people did do the 'formal' thing, others couldn't see the point of dressing up just to eat so went to the buffet. Bribie Cruisers Posted September 8, 2008 #8 Share Posted September 8, 2008 Just returned from W825 on the first formal night there was a presentation at 7.15pm prior to the 7.30pm stage show that introduced the captain and his senior officers, we did not attend but I guess no free drinks. Second formal night Captains Club cocktail party with a couple of free drinks... the rum punch was OK, so was the red wine and the beer...hick :D . By the way the most experienced cruiser came in at ........60 cruisers  not a bad effort at all. :)
