darcy24 Posted September 7, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2008 Been to Vancouver several times, but never done Tram to Grouse Mtn. Will be there early May 2009. Would appreciate info on best/easiest way to do this from Canada Place cruise dock. Other option would be to do Granville Island again - how do we get there from Canada Place? thank you! You can do either by transit, here is a link to our transit system. You are are to buy an all day pass on transit at any SkyTrain station, the Seabus Station or many convenience stores for $9. Vancouver Tours (Land Sea Tours) also does the trip to Grouse Mtn and the Capilano Suspension Bridge as does Vancouver Trolley with their North Shore Connector. http://www.translink.bc.ca/ http://www.vancouvertours.com/ http://www.vancouvertrolley.com/north_shore_connector.php
kcbent Posted September 15, 2008 #3 Share Posted September 15, 2008 We were staying in the downtown Vancouver area when we went to both the Grouse Mountain tram and the Capilano suspension bridge. We got there using the Vancouver bus system and found it easier and nicer than what I expected. Prices were reasonable and the buses were clean! For the tram, make sure you go on a day with good visibility. We had no choice to go on a somewhat overcast day, so we missed the view. We still did the easy trails at the top and had fun, though. Urban trekker Posted September 15, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2008 Once thing to remember is that if you go up Grouse in May there is likely to be some snow still up there - while the main viewing area trails will be snow free any of the other trails are likely to have snow - this year some of the trails didn't really open up until early July as we had a large snow pack and a cool wet spring. On the other hand if it is a nice sunny day the views are that much more spectacular when you have the snow in your photos. Also the lumberjack and birds of prey shows probably won't be running that early in the season - the bears will be out playing and fooling around and that is worth the visit alone. As I visit Grouse fairly regularly check back in the month or so before your visit - I have an annual Grouse pass so it costs me nothing extra to zip up the mountain to check out conditions. Hope this helps Cheers Dennis
