Dolly1952 Posted September 18, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2008 If the water is to rough to tender on the Georgetown side of the island  where is the other tender site and what is there to do on that side of the island?
drew sailbum Posted September 18, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 18, 2008 The alternate tendering site is in Spotts. On days when it is in use there will be buses and taxis lined up to take cruise visitors to all of the usual destinations. Sometimes the weather conditions which cause the ships to use this alternate site will also cause some of the water based excursions (such as Stingray City) to cancel as well. There are no restaurants or shops within walking distance of the Spotts landing. There is a small public beach a short walk away.

We are hoping to spend time at a beach when in Grand Cayman next month. So either tendering site will work for us. One would think a small mom/pop shop would pop up with liquid refreshments for the rare occasion that people do visit Spotts.:)
wannuhcruise Posted September 22, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 22, 2008 I was looking at Google Earth the other day and noticed that there are cruise ships tendered outside of George Town as well as on the south side of the island. I wonder if there aren't really two different satellite images from different days pasted together. Kind of interesting, actually.
