How far is Beverly hills from San Pedro Port?

We are cruising on NCL out of San Pedro next march. The NCL pre-cruise brochure recommends two Beverly Hills hotels to stay at. Just curious how far this is from the pier. Other posts I've read say stay in Long Beach or San Pedro. My kids have never been to Bev. Hills though and thought it might be fun to stay there. Is this a good idea? Is marina del ray a better idea?

The drive ( with our fabulous Los Angeles traffic <vbg> ) would be about an hour.

If you stay in San Pedro or Long Beach ( depending on which cruise port you are sailing off from) would be closer of course and you could still do day touring in"town".. from LAX ( airport) it's about 10 minutes to Marina del Rey..
