sgttami Posted April 15, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 15, 2004 Can't comment on your hotels listed but the San Juan Marriott was our favorite for pre-cruise...right on the beach, nice pool and pool bar, close to walking to other restaurants, mini-shopping, 10 minutes from the pier (if that), great staff, excellent view from the room (pool/ocean view)...we loved it. Family of 14 Posted April 15, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 15, 2004 I have a couple of great pictures of the outside of the Normandie (taken from the Caribe) if you would like me to e-mail to you. We thought the hotel looked interesting and wished we had stayed there instead of the Caribe. I would definitely go with a boutique hotel. bill&marti Posted April 15, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 15, 2004 Our Priceline bid got us the Normandie and we were impressed will all but availability of nearby restaurants. The hotel restaurant was pricey and we ended up eating in the bar. I called the hotel after making my reservation to request a smoking room. We were given room 326 - it has a balcony that wraps around the entire front of the hotel! It is very close to the Pan Am pier but a long walk/drive to OSJ. Family of 14 Posted April 15, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 15, 2004 We split an entree at Morton's Steakhouse across the way at the Caribe. More than enough for two people so that kept the cost down.
