AnnMorin Posted October 29, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2004 Ok we did the stingrays two years ago, they were great, but this time we are pulling a 6th grader out for six days of school so something on this trip has to be educational of sorts to report back to class, in cozumel we are jewelry shopping and doing the fury catamerans and in key west I am getting my massage so GC is the only choice, I heard something about pirate caves and/or sunken ships we do have our own snorkel gear, any suggestions? zydecocruiser Posted October 30, 2004 #7 Share Posted October 30, 2004 A lesson in offshore banking and how to launder money? ------------------------------------------------------ Not sure when you are going, but the Botanical Garden was trashed by Ivan and is currently closed. http://www.pedrostjames.ky/ pedro http://www.turtle.ky/ turtle There is a shipwreck, the Cali, you can snorkel, if Ivan didn't bury or move it, on the other hand, there probably are a number of new wrecks you can snorkel! The Cali you can snorkel from shore, but you might was to take a boat. Come see the animals scenic grounds and of course the underground Pirate's Caves where real pirates used to be found! Deb C. Posted October 31, 2004 #10 Share Posted October 31, 2004 Just keeping a neat journal with good grammar, complete thoughts, correct spelling, creative thoughts, etc. will go a long way with many a teacher!! Put in a few picture postcards of places you visited, photos of the family activities, deck plan of the ship, etc. Find a map of the Caribbean and mark the route you took. Maybe make a list of the family's purchases and have your child add it up for you--calculate custom's tax of 10%. So many neat things you could include. As a retired teacher after 30 years(29 of them in 6th grade!!) , I know I would love to read such a journal!! Enjoy your cruise and especially your time together as a family making memories!! Bon Voyage!!
AnnMorin Posted October 31, 2004 Author #11 Share Posted October 31, 2004 I got him a nice scrap book kit that he is going to use, put digital photos in it, log our longitude and latitude each day, I like the customs tax idea (I will try my best to help with the purchases end ;) ) I am leaning towards snorkeling over the calli maybe he can research the ship before we go.
