Aquarium/Atlantis for older folks off ship

Is it sensible for two older cruisers to take the ships shore excursion to Atlantis and also see the aqarium. I know the ships tours are always more expensive but we would like it to be as hassle free as possible because one person is really heat sensitive and not used to the southern heat and sun. Thanks for any info. We will be there in mid january off the celebration.

Jim

Ps. how would you deal with scheduling an easy trip to Atlantis with the casino and aqarium being the main interest we would like to see.

Hi there! I would say in your case to take a taxi to Atlantis (land or water taxi) which is only 3 or 4 dollars each way. Then you can pay for the DIG (aquarium) when you get there (or get lucky like me and see it for free). You don't need to plan anything....just get off the boat, you will see people there waiting to take you to Atlantis, many cabs, water taxis, etc.

If you take the tour with the ship, not only is it more expensive, but you are stuck in a big crowd all day and can't really do it at your own leisure. If you have any more questions let me know!

Hello Lauralap thanks for any info you have on Atlantis. We are interested in knowing the cost of the Aquarium for adults, and if there is a nearby place out of the heat and sun for tea or a light snack. Thanks again.

You can see a lot of Atlantis for free......but if you want to see The DIG, which is beautiful, I believe it costs 29 dollars each. We were lucky and got in for free.

As far as going somewhere for tea and a light snack, Atlantis has lots of little restaurants around.....but be warned it's expensive! I would say pack up some snacks from the ship, and then order a tea from one of the restaurants. One of the restaurants has an aquarium right inside it!
