Galveston Cruiser Posted October 21, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2008 Looking for information on this hotel. How is it for a one night stay? Thanks. If I were to quess this motel is not OPEN, for where it is located generally experienced lots of damage and high storm surge. I will go by and look though. GeniRich Posted October 21, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted October 21, 2008 Thanks. It allowed me to reserve on line but that does not mean 100% it is open. Thanks for checking.
Galveston Cruiser Posted October 23, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 23, 2008 The Econo Lodge is behind Gaidos on Ave J 3900 block. I was confusing it with Howard Johnsons on Harborside. Econo is near Seawall/Gulf side not on Port/Bay side of Island IT IS OPEN! Sign on door says No Vacancy. It is full of FEMA Contractors Trades and Insurance people. Until Fema moves Fema patrons out to other other housing, who knows if econo will honor reservations. Its a tough decision about alternative hotel space.
