Scuba Bahamas-New Providence Island or Grand Bahama Island

I am thinking about diving while on a family cruise-NCL Gem from NY to the Bahamas. The ship stops at the private NCL island, New Providence Island, and Grand Bahama Island.

1. Is there any diving on the NCL private island? If so, is it decent?

2. How is the diving on Grand Bahama Island (Freeport)? Any operators to recommend? Avoid? Use the shore excursion-who is the operator?

3. I dove with Stuart Cove several years ago while on a land vacation there years ago. Do you recommend using them? Someone else? Use the shore excursion-who is the operator?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

We highly recommend Stuart Cove. We've dove with them many times and were never disappointed. You can book direct on their website. There are operators on Grand Bahama with good reputations, but we have never used them. We have only made two stops there; one was and unscheduled stop due to bad weather elsewhere and the other had too short a time in port to squeeze in a dive trip. Good luck and have fun! http://www.cruisedivers.blogspot.com
