B Mann Posted October 28, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2008 Has anyone ever been to the Barbados Wildlife Reserve? I was thinking about going, but I see it is pretty far from Bridgetown. How long will it take you to get there by taxi? Are there any tours that go here?
tango9 Posted October 29, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2008 I have been there twice. The first time, we went after lunch; took a cab there and back. Cost of $60 RT for three of us. We did see many monkeys and I found it to be an interesting place; rather like a old, jungle like place with animals wandering around, some in old cages. The second time we rented a car and drove around the island. We saw no monkeys that time although we were also there in mid afternoon.
B Mann Posted October 30, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted October 30, 2008 Thanks for your response Merkelcg! How long does it take to get there? What other places did you go when you rented the car that were worth seeing?
tango9 Posted November 9, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 9, 2008 I took at least 20 minutes to get there. The cab driver waited for us, or at least I think he did, as he was there one hour later , the agreed time to leave. It was a few years ago and it was $60 Rt for three of us. When we rented a car, we went to Folkstone Park to swim and snorkel , to the Andromena garden ( very nice) , Bathsheba and the Wildlife refuge. There is allot to see on Barbados and we did not see all we wanted as we had a late start . We had reserved a car to meet us and it never showed up. Upon calling the company they said they had reserved me for a different day. We ended up renting the last car from a company at the pier but it had stick shift , with driver's seat on right side and driving on left side of the road. My brain had to work hard

Bonita Posted November 12, 2008 #6 Share Posted November 12, 2008 Just returned from the Emerald Princess........One of the ladies on our St Lucia tour had been to this wildlife refuge in Barbados the day before, leg was bandaged from knee to ankle..........A MONKEY bit her on this tour.....she spent the afternoon in the hospital getting shots and antibiotics and was told NOT to get it wet! pretty much ruined the rest of the cruise and tours for her after that, so if you go, BE CAREFUL!
